Born August 21, 1919 – December 26, 2012

Welcome

In 1990, Eva started the Eva Leflar Foundation, with a mandate to provide support to the children of Owen Sound and Grey countys. In its 30+ year history, her Foundation has helped financially disadvantaged kids from our area join Choirs, Musical Ensembles, Sports Teams, Drama Groups, provided scholarships to graduating high school students, and attendees at several Ontario universities, and help local and area hospitals to provide better neo-natal and child care.

True to her word, and genuinely charitable nature, Eva has truly made a difference for hundreds of children from her beloved home town. While she will be dearly missed, Eva has left a legacy that will not soon be forgotten.

About Eva Leflar

Born in Annan Ontario in August of 1919, Eva was an only child of James and Emma Leflar.  She lived her entire life in the Owen Sound area, and was very fond of and extremely loyal to the community.  Eva never married, or had a family of her own, but family was very important to her.  She always had close ties with her own, especially with her closest cousin, George Frizzell.  She held a variety of careers in business, including bookkeeping in the accounts department at Edwards.

Foundation

The Leflar Foundation originated from the late Eva Leflar out of her desire to provide opportunities to those who didn’t have those opportunities available to them. Eva’s love of the arts incited her to share with assistance to young people in the community.

Eva Leflar also provided funding assistance for deserving students in the form of education bursaries. Her goal was to help those who she believed would wisely benefit. It was always satisfying to see beneficiaries give back to the community.

grant Application

The Leflar Foundation mission is to help children and youth in the Owen Sound and Grey/Bruce county area.  The Foundation offer financial support to non-profit, charitable organizations that provide opportunities or services to children in our area in recreational, educational, cultural and medical endeavors. The goal is to assist disadvantaged children and youth, in order that they may participate in activities or obtain services that they might not otherwise have access to.
